Patented technologies in the Netherlands are more used in real life, and the Dutch Patent Office is even more active than any inventor in promoting patented technologies, so that the smooth commercialization of patents has always been what the Dutch Intellectual Property Office has been doing. The bridge in Amsterdam~~~~~
According to news from the Netherlands Intellectual Property Office, the Netherlands is currently holding the SBIR innovation competition, and the winners of the competition will participate in the measurement of all bridges and piers in Amsterdam.
SBIR is the abbreviation of Small Business Innovation Research. It is an innovation competition held by a specialized agency of the Dutch government that focuses on innovation research for small and medium-sized enterprises to solve social problems of all parties. The theme of this competition is which measurement technology can be used to get the fastest and most comprehensive understanding of Amsterdam's bridges and piers, so that safety hazards in these bridges and piers can be identified at an early stage, and timely repair and maintenance can be carried out.
We all know that Amsterdam in the Netherlands is a water city. There are 829 bridges and piers in the city, with a total length of 200 kilometers. Going to work by water is even faster than taking a car on the ground. After two rounds of selection, the technical solutions provided by the four companies will participate in the final competition.
These 4 companies provide 4 different technical solutions from different perspectives:
1. Althen has invented an online monitoring system suspended on the pier. The sensor looks like a brick on the pier, hence the name: Smartbrick.
2. The company Villari has invented a unique technology to monitor steel bridges and objects for cracking and corrosion.
3. Iv-Infra has developed a new type of scanning boat that scans bridges and piers as the ship passes over them.
4. Sensar uses satellites to obtain the data and status of bridges and docks through remote sensing.
Although the aforementioned innovations are technically different, they can be combined and complement each other to some extent, and competitors do not see each other as competitors. For example, Althen believes that Sensar's satellite solution can actually be used in conjunction with their on-site online monitoring system, so that the data obtained will be more comprehensive and accurate.
