Multiple designs are allowed in one design application only if the designs belong to the same set (usually used or sold at the same time).

The patent grant procedure is divided into two separate stages:

• The first stage is the formality examination stage, from the filing of the patent application to the publication of the patent application.
• The second stage is the substantive examination stage after publication. If the application meets the formal requirements, the Hungarian Patent Office will manage the filing date and perform a novelty search. The request for substantive examination can be made at the time of filing the application or at the latest within 6 months from the date of publication of the search report in the Official Gazette.

INPI conducts formal and substantive examinations of invention patent applications. There are three ways to submit an application to INPI: online application, mailing and submitting a written application to INPI in person. • Grant fee: The applicant needs to pay the granted fee within 3 months after receiving the notification of the granted decision, and pay the annual fee for the first to third years at the same time.
• Annuity: The annual fee will be paid year by year starting from the fourth year from the filing date. The amount of the annual fee depends on the number of Claim, and the annual fee can also be paid. If the annual fee is overdue, it can be paid within the 6-month late payment period after the due date, but a 200% penalty must be paid at the same time.
