The Republic of Turkey (hereinafter referred to as Turkey) has a land area of 783,600 square kilometers, spanning Asia and Europe, 97% of which is located in the Asia Minor Peninsula of Asia, and 3% of the area is located in the Balkan Peninsula of Europe. The coastline is 7,200 kilometers long, and the land border is 2,648 kilometers long. It is adjacent to Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Greece and Bulgaria, and borders the Mediterranean Sea, Aegean Sea, Marmara Sea and Black Sea. The southern coastal area has a subtropical Mediterranean climate, while the interior has a continental climate.
