China Overview

China, officially the People's Republic of China (PRC), is a sovereign state in East Asia. China is a large country located in East Asia, bordering Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar in Southeast Asia, India, Bhutan, Nepal and Pakistan in South Asia, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan in Central Asia, Mongolia in the heart of Asia, North Korea in North Asia, and the Altai and Far East regions of Russia. In addition, China borders South Korea, Japan, Vietnam and the Philippines by sea. China is the second largest country in the world by land area, and the third or fourth largest country by total area, depending on the calculation method. It is the most populous country in the world, with a population of 1.35 billion.
