Vietnam, officially known as the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, is located in the easternmost part of the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia. Its population ranks 13th in the world and 8th in Asia. It borders China to the north, Laos to the northwest, and the South China Sea to the east, sharing a maritime border with Malaysia.
