Restoration of priority is accepted on the grounds of "due care" and "unintentional/due care".
The design does not lose novelty if it is exhibited at an officially recognized international exhibition within 6 months of the filing/priority date, or if it is disclosed as a result of apparent misuse by the applicant or its previous owner.
The SPO conducts formality examination and substantive examination of the invention patent, and publishes it after the formality examination is passed. The applicant needs to pay the substantive examination fee within 3 months after receiving the payment notice, and start the substantive examination. The duration depends on the complexity of the application.
