The invention does not lose its novelty if the inventor, or a third party who directly or indirectly obtains relevant information from the inventor, discloses the invention information within 12 months before the filing date/priority date.

The novelty grace period in Hungary is 6 months before the filing date if disclosure occurs:

- due to abuse of the rights of the applicant or his predecessors;
- because the applicant or the predecessor of the right holder has exhibited the invention at an exhibition duly recognized by the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office.

IMPI conducts formal and substantive examinations of invention patent applications. The substantive examination starts automatically, and there is no need for the applicant to submit a separate request for substantive examination. No special requirements or fees. Expedited examination can be requested through the Patent Prosecution Highway. The time limit for responding to the Office Action Notice is 2 months from the date of issue, which can be extended once (2 months).

• Grant fee: There is no annual granted fee for a design patent application in Singapore.
• Annuity: Pay the annual fee renewal fee every 5 years, overdue payment can be made within a grace period of 6 months, and a penalty of SGD 50.00 should be paid at the same time.

UKRPATENT only conducts formality examination of utility model patent applications. The objects protected by utility models are the same as those protected by invention patents (i.e. products, processes, new uses of known products and processes).

• Grant fee: The applicant should pay the granted registration fee within 2 months after receiving the notification of the granted decision, and pay the annual fee for the first to fifth years at the same time.

• Licensing Fee: None.
• Annuity: pay year by year from the first year from the date of application, and the applicant should pay the fee within 3 months before the expiration of the annual fee period. Novelty grace period applies if the invention is disclosed to the public within six months of the filing date or priority date.

A 12-month novelty grace period applies if the disclosure results from a breach of confidentiality, or if the inventor exhibits at an international exhibition or society.
