Colombia does not charge granting official fees. The first annual fee after patent grant must be paid before the last day of the month corresponding to the international filing date. Deferrals are possible within the 6-month grace period, subject to late fees

The JPO conducts formality examination and substantive examination of invention patent applications. The applicant should submit a request for substantive examination within 3 years from the filing date. The JPO makes an granted decision if it determines after review that no grounds for refusal have been found.

• Grant fee: The applicant needs to pay the granted fee within 3 months after receiving the notification of the granted decision, and pay the annual fee for the first to third years at the same time.
• Annuity: The annual fee will be paid year by year starting from the fourth year from the filing date. The amount of the annual fee depends on the number of Claim, and the annual fee can also be paid. If the annual fee is overdue, it can be paid within the 6-month late payment period after the due date, but a 200% penalty must be paid at the same time.

10 years

• Grant fee: The announcement fee includes the granted official fee.
• Annuity: pay year by year from the second year of the application date, and should be paid on the date of the application date. If the annual fee is overdue, it can be paid within a grace period of 6 months, and at the same time pay 160.00 Bahraini dinar (large entity) late fee.

• Authorization Fee: None
• Annuity: The renewal fee is paid every 5 years and must be submitted within 6 months before the due date of the annual fee. The deadline is the last day of the month in which the application date is located. Overdue payment can be made within the 6-month late payment period. Except that no penalty will be charged for the first month, a penalty of GBP 24.00 per month will be charged for the remaining months.
