Fee reductions for SMEs in Spain

The Ikdeas Powered for Business SME Fund is a funding program initiated by the European Commission and implemented through the EUIPO to provide financial support to small and medium-sized enterprises in the EU to protect their intellectual property rights. The program includes issuing bonds to partially support the corresponding costs of trademarks, designs, patents and plant varieties.

Trademarks:

• Small and medium-sized enterprises can request a 75% reduction in EU trademark application fees, EU design application fees, additional application fees, as well as examination fees, registration fees, publication fees and delayed publication fees.
• Small and medium-sized enterprises can request a reduction or exemption of trademark and design application fees, additional class fees, and examination, registration, publication and extension fees in 75% of countries and regions
• SMEs can request a 50% reduction in application fees for trademarks and designs filed outside the EU, additional class fees, and examination, registration, publication and late publication fees

Patents:

• Small and medium-sized enterprises can request a 75% reduction in prior art search fees
• Small and medium-sized enterprises can request a 75% reduction in application, search, examination, authorization and publication fees in EU member states
• SMEs can request a 75% reduction in European patent application and search fees
• SMEs can request a 50% reduction in the fees for drafting and filing a European patent application, up to a maximum of €2,000 (depending on the circumstances)
• SMEs can request a 75% reduction in EU patent application and examination fees
