As of August 1, 2025, following Montenegro’s accession to the London Agreement, European patents valid in Montenegro will no longer require the submission of a full translation of the patent specification into Montenegrin if the patent was granted in English or an English translation has been provided.
In any case, a Montenegrin translation of the claims must always be submitted.
The new rules will not apply to patents granted in Europe before August 1, 2025, but will apply to patents subsequently subject to opposition, appeal or limitation proceedings.
