Egypt announces establishment of a new intellectual property office, EAIP

Egypt recently announced the establishment of a new Intellectual Property Office that will bring together all of Egypt’s official IP agencies, including the Trademark Office, the Patent Office, the Copyright Office, the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, and the Plant Variety Protection Authority.

The full English name of the new Intellectual Property Office is the Egyptian Authority for Intellectual Property, or EAIP for short, and will be fully operational within one year from the date of implementation of Law No. 16 in 2023. The official operation time will be announced in due course. It is worth noting that EAIP does not carry out the registration and registration of intellectual property rights, but the offices under its management handle specific matters. EAIP will be responsible for the implementation of Egypt’s national intellectual property strategy, highlighting its importance in Egypt.
