Uruguay adds new PCT International Application Search Authority

Uruguay officially became a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) on January 7, 2025. At present, the Uruguayan Patent Office has announced that when Uruguayan nationals and residents submit PCT international applications to the Uruguayan Patent Office or the International Bureau, in addition to designating the Brazilian Patent Office and the Chilean Patent Office as search units, they can also designate the Spanish Patent Office as the search unit.
