Recently, the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office released its 2023 Annual Report, summarizing the work achievements in 2023:
- Optimizing patent and trademark examination efficiency
- The average time for issuing the first examination opinion of invention patents and the time for review and finalization were shortened to 8.9 months and 14.4 months respectively.
- The average time for issuing the first trademark examination opinion and the time for review and approval were shortened to 6.2 months and 7.5 months respectively.
- AI-assisted examination has accelerated the examination process and improved the examination efficiency. The patent application document assistance system was launched in September, and the trademark image search function was completed in November.
- Improve the legal environment for intellectual property rights
- Article 47, Paragraph 3 of the Copyright Act on the rate of remuneration for copyright use was published in February
- In May, the revised version of some articles of the Trademark Law was passed, and the accelerated examination mechanism for trademark applications was officially introduced.
