The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) will increase application fees for multiple trademark registrations beginning January 18, 2025. Fees will increase by $50 to $100 per class of goods or services. The USPTO will also impose additional fees on many applications filed under sections 1 and 44 of the Trademark Act.
Previously, it was possible to file a one-class application with minimal information and a filing fee, but going forward, missing information and "incomplete" applications or paying fees for additional classes will be subject to surcharges. For the first time, a surcharge will also be imposed for descriptions of goods and services in a class that exceed 1,000 characters.
