On December 4, the European Patent Office (EPO) held its annual Patent Knowledge Forum (PKF), bringing together more than 2,200 patent professionals, innovators and patent information experts from around the world. This virtual event is an important platform for the patent knowledge community, promoting a dynamic exchange of ideas and expertise in the field of patent intelligence, and the key role of patent data in driving innovation and addressing global challenges.
"Patent knowledge is more than just data, it is the DNA of technological progress," stressed Antonio Campinos, President of the European Patent Office, in his opening speech. "When we grant patents, we uphold a social contract - to make technology visible, understandable and reproducible."
The official public launch of the Technology Intelligence Platform (TIP), the next generation tool for processing, analyzing and visualizing patent data at the European Patent Office, is a highlight for PKF. TIP aims to extract valuable patent information and knowledge, and by combining patent data with other data, it has achieved a major leap in how users interact with and utilize patent data.
