Recently, the Brazilian Industrial Property Institute (INPI) announced that the PPH pilot project with China's National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) will be extended from January 1, 2025. The relevant requirements and procedures for submitting PPH requests to the two offices remain unchanged.
According to the information released by INPI, its PPH project model will enter a new stage on January 1, 2025. The total number of PPH applications received from all its PPH partners each year will be increased to 3,200, not exceeding 800 per quarter, and the total number of PPH applications received each year under the same Section of the International Patent Classification (IPC) will be increased to 1,000, and the restriction that each applicant can only submit one application per week will be lifted; in the first quarter of 2025, INPI will not accept PPH applications from IPC classification code H04, and will re-evaluate each quarter to determine the technical fields to be accepted.
