A new chapter in priority document protection: Uruguay and Saudi Arabia join WIPO’s digital access service

Through WIPO's Digital Access Service (DAS), PCT applicants can request the International Bureau to provide DAS access to priority documents, eliminating the need to provide copies of priority documents. Recently, two more countries have joined the DAS project.

Uruguayan National Institute of Industrial Property (DNPI)

• The National Institute of Industrial Property of Uruguay (DNPI) has informed the International Bureau that it will be able to serve as both a depositing Office and an accessing Office for DAS from September 15, 2025. As a depositing Office, it will deposit certified copies of patent applications filed from September 15, 2025, and as a accessing Office, it will recognize priority documents provided through the service.

Saudi Arabian Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP)

• The Saudi Arabian Office of Intellectual Property (SAIP) has notified the International Bureau that it will serve as an accessing Office to DAS from September 1, 2025. As a accessing Office, it will recognize the priority access service provided through DAS for national patent applications filed from September 1, 2025.
