Amazon will become the first major marketplace service provider to join the Intellectual Property Enforcement Portal (IPEP), the EU Intellectual Property Office’s central platform for the exchange of information related to intellectual property enforcement. By joining IPEP, Amazon joins a growing coalition dedicated to combating counterfeit goods of all kinds.

IPEP is a consortium composed of rights holders, customs officials, police and market supervision bureaus, and is known for identifying and discovering counterfeit products. IPEP provides information exchange for various units, and rights holders can also decide what information to share with whom. IPEP is already used by more than 1,400 brand rights holders and 81 law enforcement agencies in the EU. The addition of Amazon and the participation of other e-commerce markets will further strengthen this cooperation. IPEP has developed a set of functions for various e-commerce markets and rights holders on the platform to strengthen cooperation and jointly combat counterfeit goods on the platform. In the future, IPEP will begin and launch new functions to share information and strengthen liaison with the entire European Union Law Enforcement Agency. At the same time, IPEP will not replace the existing e-commerce notification channels and takedown channels, but more advanced information exchange functions will enable More users are protected from counterfeit goods.

This is an excellent start for merchants on the Amazon platform. To open an account with IPEP, please visit: IP Enforcement Portal
