Small Entity Regulations for Patent Applications in Morocco
Moroccan Small Entity, applicable to natural persons, universities, educational institutions and SMEs (according to the criteria of SME Articles of Association), including domestic and foreign applicants.
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Morocco are classified according to the number of employees, annual turnover or financial assets of the enterprise. The definition of SMEs by the Moroccan government and relevant institutions is mainly provided by the Moroccan National Statistics Office (Haut-Commissariat au Plan, HCP) and the Moroccan Agency for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises (ANPME).
- Micro-enterprises: with fewer than 10 employees, annual turnover less than AED 3 million, and total assets not exceeding AED 1 million
- Small business: 10-50 employees, annual turnover of AED 3-10 million, total assets of AED 1-5 million
- Medium-sized companies: 50-200 employees, annual turnover between AED 10 million and AED 50 million, total assets between AED 5 million and AED 20 million
Specific relief amounts for small entities:
- Application fee: AED 2,100.00, after reduction: AED 840.00
- Search fee and examination fee: AED 6000.00, after reduction: AED 2400.00
- Change fee, transfer of rights, AED 1200.00, after reduction: AED 480.00
- European patent granted in Morocco, publication fee for claims in Arabic/French, AED 1,200.00, reduced fee: AED 480.00
- Annual fee for the first to ninth year: AED 600.00-2100.00, AED 240.00-840.00 after reduction
