Morocco is located in the Maghreb region of North Africa. The interior of Morocco is rugged and mountainous, with vast expanses of desert. It is one of only three countries in the world that have both Atlantic and Mediterranean coastlines (the other two are Spain and France). Morocco has a population of 33.8 million and a total land area of 446,550 km2 (172,410 ft2). Morocco is an influential member of the Arab League and part of the Union for the Mediterranean and the International Organization of la Francophonie. It is the sixth largest economy in Africa.
